China Work Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for a post or employment, commercial performance or academic exchanges.
The procedure of applying for Work Visa
Alien Employment License-Z visa Invitation Letter – Applying for Z visa from oversea Chinese Consulates or Visa office in HK – Physical Exam – Registration Form of Temporary Residence – Work Permit – Resident Permit

O4. The headquarters of oversea enterprise to apply for 2-5 years Work Visa
O5. Renewing 1-5 Years Working permit and Residence Permit with same employer
O6. Switching your Working Permit and Residence Permit from employer A to employer B
O7. Employee stops working, working permit (Alien Employment permit) cancelation or modification (name, position, passport number, address etc.)
O8. Hong Kong citizen apply the 1-year Working Permit and Residence Permit
O9. Taiwan citizen apply the 1-5 years Working Permit
Paperwork list for Work Visa ( Z visa + work permit +resident permit )：
O1：First time Apply for 1 Year Work visa (Z visa+ Work Permit +Residence Permit) with your employer
1. The applicant’s passport with valid visa;
2. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
3. The copy of diploma related with current job position;
4. Reference letters issued by his/her former employer, showing his/her working experiences related with current job position;
5. The physical exam report (Oden will make an appointment for you);
6. Copy of Labor Contract /Employment Agreement signed by the employer and the applicant;
7. The Registration Form of Temporary Residence (Sample)
8. 8 passport size photos of applicant;
9. 5 copy of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 4 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 4 copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Attentions:
1. For the first time application, applicant should go personally; for renewal, can authorize Oden Consulting.
2. In case the foreigner is the direct investor or the legal representative indicated in the business license, a copy of proof documents or a copy of the business license should be provided. (Above-mentioned item3,4 and 6 in “Documents Required for Application” entry can be omitted)
3. Chief Representative in the representative office, legal representative or investor of the WFOE which has their name appeared on their business licenses are allowed to change their L or M visas into Z visa/residence permit in China without leaving. Above information only based on shanghai visa rules.
Normal Time: 30 working days
Charge: service fee + government fee (400RMB/per)

O3. The postgraduate who study in China to apply for 1 year Work Visa (no need two years work experience)
1. The applicant’s passport with valid visa;
2. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
3. The copy of diploma related with current job position;
4. The original work proof issued by the FTZ department;
5. Copy of Labor Contract /Employment Agreement signed by the employer and the applicant;
6. The Registration Form of Temporary Residence (Sample)
7. 8 passport size photos of applicant;
8. 5 copy of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 4 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 4 copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Attentions:
1. Applicants can apply for work visa in one year after graduated, but need to provide physical exam report when the X visa expired.
Normal Time: 17working days
Charge: service fee + government fee (400RMB/per)
Friendly Note:
2015 July new policy: the foreign postgraduates who hired by FTZ enterprises can directly apply for work visa in China.
O4. The headquarters of oversea enterprise to apply for 2-(5) years Work Visa
1. The applicant’s passport with valid visa;
2. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
3. The copy of diploma related with current job position;
4. Reference letters issued by his/her former employer, showing his/her working experiences related with current job position;
5. The physical exam report (Oden will make an appointment for you);
6. Copy of Labor Contract /Employment Agreement signed by the employer and the applicant;
7. The Registration Form of Temporary Residence (Sample)

1. The applicant’s passport with valid visa;
2. The original work permit ;(Alien Employment Permit)
3. The copy of updated labor contract /Employment Agreement;
4. The Registration Form of Temporary Residence;(sample)
5. 2 passport size photo;
6. The chief representative or the representative of the representative office shall also provide the valid Representative Certificate
7. 2 copy of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 2 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 2copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Attentions:
1. As LR, Investor, chief representative and representative, above-mentioned item 3 in “Documents Required for Application” entry can be omitted
Normal Time: 12 workings days
Charge: service fee +government fee (400-800RMB/Per)

O6. Switching your Working Permit and Residence Permit from employer A to employer B
1. The applicant’s passport with valid visa;
2. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
3. The copy of diploma related with current job position;
4. 2 original release letter from previous company with official seal;
5. The original work permit ;(Alien Employment Permit) if cancelled, please provide the cancellation paper;
6. The copy of updated labor contract /Employment Agreement with new company;
7. The Registration Form of Temporary Residence;(sample)
8. 5 passport size photos;
9. The chief representative or the representative of the representative office shall also provide the valid Representative Certificate
10.3 copies of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 3 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 3 copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Attentions:
1. Those whose position is vice general manager or above should provide the resolution of the board of directors. In case that no board of directors exists, a copy of letter of appointment signed by legal representative and the article of enterprise must be presented instead of the resolution.
Normal Time: 23 working days

O7. Employee stops working, working permit (Alien Employment permit) cancelation or modification (name, position, passport number, address etc.)
1. The original work permit;
2. The introduction letter with company official seal;

O8. Hong Kong citizen apply the 1-year Working Permit and Residence Permit
1. The original ID card;
2. Tong Xing Zheng or Hui Xiang Zhong ;
3. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
4. The copy of labor contract /Employment Agreement;
5. The physical exam report;
6. The registration form of temporary residence;
7. 7 passport size photos;
8. 3 copies of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 3 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 3 copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Attentions:
1. Those whose position is vice general manager or above should provide the resolution of the board of directors. In case that no board of directors exists, a copy of letter of appointment signed by legal representative and the article of enterprise must be presented instead of the resolution.
Normal Time: 15 working days
Charge: Service fee +government fee (100RMB/Per, according to receipt)
Friendly Notice:
According to the local shanghai immigration policy, For the first time when you apply the Residence permit, you have to show up (the second time no need to show up) in the government to take a digital picture, they need to confirm you are the same person of the passport holder then the officer will accept your visa application.
O9. Taiwan citizen apply the 1-5 years Working Permit
1. Tai Bao zheng with valid visa
2. The CV (including the highest education and detailed working experiences);
3. The copy of labor contract /Employment Agreement;
4. The physical exam report;
5. The registration form of temporary residence;
6. 7 passport size photos;
7. 3 copies of Business License (other legal Registration Certificate) with official seal; 3 copies of Code Organization Certificates with official seal; 3 copies of Approval certificates with official seal (For the Foreign –invested enterprises).
Normal Time: 7 working days
Charge: service fee +government fee (100RMB, according to government fee)
Friendly Notice:
From 1st July 2015, Taiwanese can enter mainland China with visa free, they just need to carry the valid TaiBaoZheng (in English: Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents - MTP).
